Abhayaranya is situated on a hillside, next to a forest, away from the hustle bustle of Rishikesh city. There is nothing here except a tiny Himalayan village of Patna, above the Patna waterfall. The Ashram is one of its kind in the state of Uttarakhand and provides a unique mountain retreat. What strikes the visitor is the quietness cradled by the surrounding hills. This quietness is broken by the muted sound of the holy Ganga flowing below, almost out of sight, reminding you of her presence. Abhyaranya can be reached only on foot by a short, but stiff trek of about a kilometer up the Manikoot hill.
